In addition, the president of Summerfield Homes - Phil Gressly - was recently awarded 2006 EarthCraft Builder of the Year for his work in SilverOak. This award is given to a builder who has gone above and beyond in creating homes that are environmentally friendly.
EarthCraft House, which was started by Southface Energy Institute and the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association, is a voluntary green building program that reduces utility bills and protects the environment. Since its inception, the program has grown throughout the southeast with programs taking place in Virginia, South Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama and Georgia.
“Gressly actively involves himself in the construction and inspection process, which directly contributes to his success in building beautiful, custom homes that are energy efficient and environmentally sustainable,” said Sean Bleything, EarthCraft House Field Operations Manager and one of the judges that made the final decision to choose Gressly over all others.
Gressly was chosen as the top builder from a pool of 300 builders taking part in the program. Although several other awards were given out, including regional and best-in-class awards, the Builder of the Year award is the pinnacle of EarthCraft recognition.
